Ethics in Today’s World (2 CE Hours)
This 2 CE Hour NCBTMB-approved Home Study course examines professional ethics and standards for massage and bodywork therapists. Participants will learn to recognize, navigate, and resolve common ethical dilemmas while protecting clients, their license, and the reputation of the profession.
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
• Name two organizations that provide a code of conduct or code of ethics for massage therapists.
• List two common ethical dilemmas that massage therapists encounter.
• Explain the three basic conditions that must be met in the process and practice of informed consent.
• List at least two examples of what is considered a conflict of interest in the therapeutic relationship.
• Differentiate between transference and countertransference.
• Recognize signs of transference to set appropriate boundaries with clients.
• Define scope of practice and what massage therapists do not have permission to do.
This course includes interactive case studies, the full NCBTMB Code of Ethics, and a final examination. Successful completion awards 2 CE Hours.
