COURSE STRUCTURE
Day 1: Protocol for Posterior Cervical Pain - This 1 day course will follow the massage protocol "Medical Massage for Posterior Cervical Pain" from the Science of Massage Institute.
During the class, we will cover anatomy, physiology, pathology, and the examination of the major causes of tension in the posterior cervical muscles (Trapezius, Semispinalis Capitis, and Levator Scapulae).
Next, we will discuss the detailed evaluation of the soft tissues in the posterior neck and upper shoulders on a layer-by-layer basis.
Finally, we will cover a step-by-step Medical Massage Protocol to decompress skin, fascia, posterior cervical muscles, and periosteum in the posterior neck and upper shoulders.
Day 2: Protocol for Rotator Cuff Syndrome - This 1 day course will follow the massage protocol "Medical Massage for Rotator Cuff Syndrome" from the Science of Massage Institute".
Injury or tension within the rotator cuff muscles, or Rotator Cuff Syndrome (RCS), is a leading cause of Adhesive Capsulitis, also known as Frozen Shoulder (FS). Rehabilitation of the full-blown FS is a very complex and lengthy process, and very frequently, the patients end up with very controversial surgeries. That is why the correct management of RCS is a vital therapy that prevents debilitating complications.
During the class, we discuss the complex anatomy and physiology of the shoulder joint, step-by-step evaluation of each component of the rotator cuff mechanism, and examination of humeral-scapular rhythm.
Finally, in the hands-on part of the class, we will discuss the Medical Massage Protocol for the treatment of Rotator Cuff Syndrome.
